Christmas brings some of the trickiest and most delicious food and wine pairings of the year. What really works with smoked or cured salmon? Which wines can cope with everything on a Christmas dinner plate? What should you open with the Boxing Day ham and cheese? And what on earth do you drink with mince pies and chocolate?
Join Ground Up Cookery School and the experts from Regency Wines/rustynailspirits.com for a relaxed, fun and delicious evening designed to help you discover and choose the wines you want on your Christmas table this year.
Across the evening, you'll taste and learn about 12 carefully selected wines, each explored alongside festive tasters created by the Ground Up team. From fish and festive canapés to turkey, Boxing Day favourites, cheese, mince pies and chocolate, you will taste first-hand how food changes wine, and why some combinations simply work better than others.
This isn't about wine jargon or memorising rules. Jack from Regency Wines will guide you through the wines, sharing practical pairing advice and introducing bottles for different Christmas occasions, tastes and budgets. You will have the chance to compare and discover your own favourites and decide what you want to serve your family and guests this Christmas.
Rather than standing in front of a wall of bottles in December wondering what to buy, if you choose to you will be able to order your Christmas wines on the night, having tasted them with the foods you're likely to serve them with.
Expect plenty of tasting, great food, lively discussion and a few surprises along the way, all in the relaxed, informal atmosphere of Ground Up Cookery School.
All wines tasted during the evening will be available to order for Christmas. Orders can be collected from Ground Up Cookery School or Regency Wines, with delivery also available for an additional charge.

How is the session structured?
This is a sociable and relaxed evening.
Can you cater for dietary requirements?
The key dietary details are noted at the top of each course listing, there may be other accommodations that we can make. Please let us know of ALL dietary requirements at the time of booking. We will always aim to accommodate where possible.
Can children attend this course?
No, not this one! We don't usually have an age limit, but do this time for obvious reasons.
Do I need to bring anything?
Just your palate and an open mind.
Will there be refreshments?
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the session for you to help yourself.
Is the course accessible?
Accessibility needs vary, and we're always happy to discuss individual requirements in advance.
We have a portable ramp available and can allocate designated parking spaces where needed. Any adjustments are best discussed ahead of time so we can explore how to accommodate you wherever possible.
There can be a lot of standing on hard floors, so please contact us if you have any accessibility concerns. There may be adjustments that can be made.
Can I buy this course as a gift?

Alternatively you can simply print and present the booking confirmation. If undecided, you can purchase a monetary-value gift voucher, which can be redeemed online against this or any other course.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
We operate a strict four-week cancellation policy. Cancellations or requests to reschedule within four weeks of the course date are not refundable. However, bookings are transferable and someone else can come in your place; we just ask that you let us know.
