We’re hiring! Ground Up Cookery School in Chudleigh is looking for passionate, practical, and professional people to join our small, friendly team.

We have two exciting part time roles available – apply for one or combine them into a single, larger role to suit your skills and availability.

Chef Trainer

  • Contract: Freelance/Part-time (1 day a week to include every other Saturday, some flexibility)
  • Salary: £30k - £35k pro rata (dependent on experience)
  • Location: Chudleigh

We’re looking for a lively, skilled Chef Trainer to lead inspiring public cookery courses. From cultural cuisine workshops to baking and seasonal events, you’ll bring energy, expertise, and fun to the kitchen.

You will:

 - Lead hands-on cookery classes with confidence and flair

 - Share your knowledge of worldwide cuisines

 - Inspire learners of all ages and skill levels

 - Work alongside our Training Director on specialist foraging, fermentation, and zero-waste themes

 - Represent Ground Up Cookery School with professionalism and enthusiasm

Perfect for you if: You’re a qualified chef with great communication skills who loves teaching, connecting with people, and keeping food fun, sustainable, and professional.

Cookery School Housekeeper

  • Contract: Part-time (15 hours / 2 days per week, to include Thursday/Friday – flexible, school hours possible)
  • Salary: £25k - £29k pro rata (dependent on experience)
  • Location: Chudleigh

Our Cookery School Housekeeper is the behind-the-scenes star who keeps everything running smoothly. You’ll take pride in keeping the school sparkling clean, well-stocked, and ready for courses, while helping support our ethos of zero-waste cooking.

You will:

 - Clean, tidy, and deep-clean the school to high standards

 - Prepare and weigh out ingredients with care

 - Support chefs and the management team in delivering smooth courses

 - Help with stock rotation, organisation, and practical tasks

 - Occasionally get involved in gardening, bottling, events, or marketing if interested

Perfect for you if: You’re practical, a perfectionist, and independent, with a keen eye for detail and an interest in cooking.

🌟 Combine the Roles 🌟

Want a bigger challenge? These two roles can be combined into one position – blending course delivery with cookery school upkeep for the right candidate. If you’ve got both culinary flair and practical skills, this could be a perfect fit. You will be required to work every other Saturday and Fridays, otherwise, the hours can be flexible to meet personal commitments and the needs of the job.

Kitchen Assistant  – Ideal for Students

We are always interested in hearing from reliable Kitchen Assistant for casual shifts (mainly Saturdays & evenings). Perfect for students!

You will be responsible for the washing up, keeping the kitchen tidy during classes, and resetting equipment. Fast, systematic work and attention to detail are key. Must be happy working independently and around guests.

We’re especially keen to hear from chefs with authentic international cuisines, unique culinary skills, and a passion for sustainable, seasonal cooking.
